Facelift
Natural, Harmonious Rejuvenation
A facelift is a surgical procedure that restores a youthful look to the face, addressing visible signs of ageing such as sagging skin and wrinkles. Performed in a hospital setting under strict safety measures, this procedure ensures natural, harmonious results.
How is the surgery performed?
A facelift is performed in a specialised operating theatre and generally requires a 24-hour hospital stay. The type of anaesthesia used will depend on the complexity of the procedure and the patient’s needs. It can be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia, always under medical supervision.
The lift takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, although this can vary depending on the technique used and each patient’s facial characteristics. At our clinic, we use minimally invasive incision techniques, strategically placed along the hairline and around the ears, ensuring virtually invisible scars.
Advanced Technique for Natural Results
A facelift is not limited to tightening the skin; it also involves repositioning the deeper structures of the face, such as the muscles and fat. This achieves a more natural, long-lasting result. In some cases, the surgery can be complemented with liposuction of the neck and chin to improve facial contour, or with lipofilling to restore lost volume, such as in the cheeks.
Before & After

Types of Facelift
Depending on the areas you wish to treat, several options are available:
- Brow or Upper-Third Lift: Ideal for correcting deep forehead wrinkles and brow sagging, rejuvenating the eyes and preventing a tired appearance. In some cases, it can replace or complement blepharoplasty.
- Mid-Face Lift: Repositions sagging cheek tissue and reduces the depth of the nasolabial folds, restoring facial projection and volume.
- Lower-Face Lift: Redefines the jawline, eliminating a “double chin” and correcting marionette lines. It can be combined with cervical liposuction to further improve the contour.
- Neck Lift: Particularly suited to eliminating neck sagging, improving the cervical angle and jaw definition. It includes tightening of the platysma muscle and liposuction of accumulated fat.
- Mini Lift: A less invasive procedure for mild to moderate sagging, with a faster recovery and less skin detachment. Ideal for those wanting natural results without a full facelift.
Facelift Postoperative Period
- Drains: In some cases, a small drain is placed behind the ears, although a compression garment is generally preferred to minimise fluid build-up.
- Discomfort and Pain: This is not a painful surgery, and any discomfort is effectively controlled with medication.
- Swelling and Bruising: It is normal to experience swelling and bruising in the first few days, which will gradually disappear.
- Numbness: Temporary loss of sensation may occur in some areas, which recovers over time.
- Postoperative Care: Sleeping with the head elevated is recommended to reduce swelling, and sudden movements that could interfere with healing should be avoided.
- Suture Removal: Stitches are removed after approximately 7 days.
Final Results
Although initial changes are visible within a few weeks, the definitive result is seen between 2 and 4 months. The rejuvenating effect can last between 7 and 10 years, depending on skin type and aftercare.
