Breast Reduction
Wellbeing, Harmony and Comfort

Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that not only improves aesthetics but also relieves physical problems caused by excessive breast volume. Many women with breast hypertrophy experience discomfort such as back, neck and shoulder pain, postural difficulties, irritation in the breast folds and limitations in playing sport.

Our approach to breast reduction combines surgical precision with deep respect for each patient’s anatomy and individual needs, ensuring a balanced, natural result that improves both appearance and quality of life.

Before & After

What does
breast reduction involve?

This procedure is designed to remove excess glandular and fatty tissue in the breasts, while also lifting their position and reshaping their form. In addition to reducing breast size, the surgery corrects breast ptosis (sagging), achieving a more harmonious, youthful appearance.

The procedure is especially recommended for women who experience physical discomfort or feel that the size of their breasts affects their emotional wellbeing and lifestyle. It can be performed from the age of 16, once breast development is complete, although most patients undergo this surgery between the ages of 20–30 and 50–60.

Personalised Assessment and Planning

Every patient is unique, so several key factors are assessed during the preoperative consultation:

  • Breast volume and shape
  • Skin elasticity and degree of sagging
  • Areola size and position
  • Chest structure and body proportions

During this stage, the ideal size and most suitable technique are defined to achieve an optimal aesthetic and functional result.

Technique and Procedure

Breast reduction is performed under general anaesthesia and takes between 2 and 3 hours. The patient will stay in hospital overnight for postoperative monitoring.

Regarding the incisions, the most commonly used technique is the inverted-T, which includes:

  • An incision around the areola, which is also reduced in size to maintain proportion.
  • A vertical incision from the areola to the inframammary fold.
  • A horizontal incision hidden within the inframammary fold, which becomes practically imperceptible over time.

The areola-nipple complex is repositioned to restore a youthful, harmonious appearance. Thanks to advanced techniques and meticulous postoperative follow-up, scars develop favourably and become almost invisible within 12 to 18 months.

Recovery and Postoperative Care

Recovery from breast reduction is comfortable and quick. No drains are used, which minimises unnecessary discomfort. The patient will wear a dressing for the first 3–4 days, after which she will begin wearing a special bra, essential for providing proper support during recovery.

Unlike other surgeries, breast reduction is not a painful procedure. Discomfort is generally mild and well controlled with medication. Within 5 to 7 days, most patients can resume their normal life, avoiding intense physical exertion for the first month.

The surgeon will supervise the healing process, indicating the necessary measures to optimise scar quality. From the first month onwards, specific treatments can be applied to further improve their appearance.

Results: A Transformative Change

Beyond the aesthetic benefit, breast reduction represents a profound change in the patient’s quality of life. The feeling of lightness, relief from physical discomfort and greater ease in carrying out daily activities and sport make this one of the most satisfying procedures in aesthetic surgery.

If you want to restore harmony to your body and improve your wellbeing, breast reduction is an excellent option. At our clinic, we prioritise technical excellence, safety and personalised care at every step of the process, ensuring a natural, long-lasting result.
