Lipofilling or Fat Transfer
Naturally improve your body and facial contour
Lipofilling, also known as fat transfer, lipotransfer or fat grafting, is a surgical procedure that improves body and facial contour using the patient’s own fat. This technique offers a natural, effective alternative for restoring lost volume in various areas of the body and face, removing the need for synthetic implants.
Common Areas for Lipofilling
- Buttocks – Gluteal Lipofilling:
- As we age, or due to a lack of physical activity, the buttocks can lose their projection and firmness. Gluteal lipofilling restores volume and shape to this area, providing natural results. This procedure can be performed on its own or alongside liposuction of nearby areas, such as the outer thighs or inner thighs.
- Breast – Breast Lipofilling:
- Breast lipofilling is a natural alternative to breast augmentation with implants. It involves injecting the patient’s own fat into the breasts to increase their volume or correct mild sagging. Results are subtle and natural, since no implants are used — only the patient’s own tissue.
- Face – Facial Lipofilling:
- With age, loss of facial volume is a visible sign of ageing. Facial lipofilling can restore lost volume in areas such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin and under-eye area. This technique provides a more rejuvenated, rested appearance.
Before & After

How Much Fat Survives After Lipofilling?
The amount of fat that survives after transfer depends on factors such as the technique used, the care taken during extraction and processing of the fat, and each patient’s biological response. The more care taken at each stage of the process, the greater the chances that the grafted fat will survive and provide long-lasting results.
Dr Sarrià's Methodology
- PHASE 1 – Extraction:
- Fat is extracted using low-pressure liposuction to keep the cells intact. Reshaping liposuction is then performed to sculpt the treated areas, using a liposuction device with a pressure gauge for precise control.
- PHASE 2 – Processing:
- The fat is processed by decantation, a gentle method that cleans and separates the serum and blood, ensuring only viable fat cells are used for the graft.
- PHASE 3 – Injection:
- The purified fat is injected into the selected areas using specialised cannulas of different diameters, tailored to each patient’s anatomy. This technique ensures an even, natural distribution of fat.
Benefits of Lipofilling
-
- Natural results: By using the patient’s own fat, results are more harmonious and natural compared with other procedures such as synthetic implants.
- Long-lasting results: Although not all of the grafted fat survives, the portion that does provides long-term results.
- Additional benefits: Transferred fat also has skin-rejuvenating properties, thanks to the stem cells it contains.
Lipofilling is an innovative, increasingly popular technique for those seeking natural results without turning to synthetic materials. If you are considering this procedure, our clinic will provide you with a personalised assessment to determine the best option for you.
